  • Absolutely—there is a birthing tub in all birthing rooms at the Birth Center. If you would like to have a tub at your home birth, please let us know.

  • Yes—we absolutely encourage families to meet with us before making any final decisions.

  • We are physically available 24/7 during your birth window. We are also available during your entire pregnancy to be contacted for any major concerns or emergencies should they arise outside of normal office hours.

  • We believe birth is a natural, physiological process—and that you deserve care that honors your autonomy, your intuition, and your safety. Our midwifery approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and deeply personalized. We involve you in every decision, center your comfort and preferences, and create an environment where you feel informed, supported, and genuinely respected.

  • Our midwives are Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) licensed in Virginia, trained specifically in out-of-hospital birth. Their education includes extensive apprenticeship under experienced midwives, rigorous clinical training, and ongoing continuing education. CPMs are experts in healthy, low-risk pregnancies, holistic prenatal care, physiologic birth, emergency skills, and newborn care during the early postpartum period.

  • We come prepared with everything needed for a safe home or birth center birth, including medical supplies, emergency medications, equipment to monitor you and your baby, and tools for immediate postpartum care. We also bring items that support comfort—like birth stools, balls, and water birth supplies—depending on your birth setting.

  • Absolutely—doulas are wonderful additions to the birth team. Doulas offer continuous emotional and physical support, which can make your labor more comfortable and help you feel more grounded and confident throughout the process.

  • Yes. We welcome partners, support people, and family members at visits and during the birth. Your birth team should feel like your people—we encourage you to invite whoever makes you feel safe, supported, and loved.

  • We encourage all clients to take a comprehensive childbirth education class. We can recommend several excellent options depending on your learning style—whether you prefer hands-on, holistic classes, physiologic birth-focused programs, or out-of-hospital–specific courses. Doulas can also be a great source of ongoing education and preparation.
